Commencement of Work in the Year 2021 at the Sri Lanka High Commission in Canberra

The staff of the Sri Lanka High Commission in Canberra commenced work on the first day of the year  with  a special programme held in the morning of Friday, 01 January 2021 at its premises.

The programme commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by the Actg. High Commissioner followed by the singing of the national anthem by members of the staff. Then, a two minutes silence was observed to commemorate the war heroes and all others who have sacrificed their lives for Sri Lanka. Afterwards, the staff of the High Commission took the Oath of Public Servants pledging to work efficiently and productively throughout the year.

Addressing the staff, the Actg. High Commissioner extended best wishes to the members of the staff for the New Year. He highlighted the importance of every member of the staff fulfilling their respective duties efficiently and productively with dedication and integrity for an efficient and productive public service conforming to the government’s policy: Vistas of Prosperity and Splendor, particularly in the wake of new challenges posed by the global pandemic situation.

The programme concluded with partaking of milk rice and sweetmeats.
