Deepavali Celebrated in Canberra

Deepavali was celebrated at the High Commission premises onSunday the 22nd November 2015. Priest Pandit Pradeep Butt of the Vishnu Shiva Mandir in Canberra performed a special Pooja for the deities which was followed by devotional songs and cultural performances by some talented artistes.

The Mission resonated with songs, music and dance and was enjoyed by an appreciative large audience of invitees who were present.

In a brief speech, High Commissioner Skandakumar thanked the guests for their presence and reflected on the spirit of the event which signified the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness. He observed that these were virtues that were embodied in all religious faiths as the essence for peace and prosperity.

He thereafter invited the guests to share the wide range of traditional delicacies that had been prepared by the staff of the Mission.
