The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (SLEDB) has been actively involved in the development and promotion of goods and services from Sri Lanka in the international market. The SLEDB has identified professional services, ICT/BPO and the Electronics sectors as priority areas in achieving the economic goals contained in the “Mahinda Chinthanaya Vision for the future”.

One of the key objectives of the National Strategy for Professional Services is to give ample publicity to Sri Lankan professionals and professional service companies among international organizations who are in search of potential service providers of business partners. Promotion internationally of the ICT and Electronics sectors has also been identified as an important issue.

Addressing the third in a series of Press Meetings organized in New Delhi on May 21st to announce the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards in Sri Lanka, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said that with the dawn of new era Sri Lanka has great potential in expanding vistas in investment, tourism and other sectors that will immensely contribute towards the rapid development drive initiated by the government.

The delegation of Sri Lankan senior officials led by Attorney General Mohan Pieris presently in Brussels for the Sri Lanka-EU GSP+ Dialogue, on Friday 21st May called Dr. Kristalina Georgiva, European Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response. The Attorney General was joined in the discussion by Treasury Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundara, External Affairs Secretary Romesh Jayasinghe, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union Ravinatha Aryasinha, Director/Europe of the Ministry of External Affairs Manisha Gunasekera and Second Secretary (Political) of the Embassy Madhuka Wicremarachchi.
