Sri Lanka High Commission in Canberra conducts first Mobile Service in Sydney

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Canberra held a mobile consular service on Saturday 26th July in Sydney, New South Wales, for the convenience of the approximately 30,000 Sri Lankans living in Sydney. This was part of the High Commission’s efforts to provide better consular services to Sri Lankans in Australia.

The mobile consular service was conducted at the Sinhalese Cultural Forum of New South Wales in Seven Hills, Sydney, which is an area where a large number of Sri Lankans live. Volunteers from the Sinhalese Cultural Forum and other associations in Sydney including the Tamil and Muslim communities and Associations assisted officers of the Sri Lanka High Commission to carry out the Mobile Consular Service successfully.

There was an enthusiastic response to the Mobile consular service from the Sri Lankan community who turned up in large numbers. Around 120 persons were provided consular services which included passport applications; birth certificates and dual nationality applications.

The feedback received from the Sri Lankan community indicated that the mobile consular service was greatly appreciated by Sri Lankans in New South Wales.
