Sri Lanka Appoints a New Honorary Consul in Adelaide, South Australia

High Commissioner Yasoja Gunasekera handed over the Commission of Appointment to Mr. Dimuthu Samaranayake, the new Honorary Consul for Sri Lanka in Adelaide with consular jurisdiction covering South Australia on 4 March 2026 at the Sri Lanka High Commission in Canberra.

Mr. Samaranayake is a project management professional in the mining industry and is active in several Sri Lankan community associations  in Adelaide.

Congratulating the new Honorary Consul on his appointment, High Commissioner Gunasekera stressed the importance of elevating Sri Lanka’s engagement with the State of South Australia and pursuing trade, investment and tourism opportunities for Sri Lanka.

Mr. Samaranayake also expressed interest in facilitating good consular services to the approximately 10,000 strong Sri Lankan community in South Australia, in cooperation with the Sri Lanka High Commission in Canberra and the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Melbourne.
