Sri Lanka Showcases Culture and Hospitality at Windows to the World 2025

The Sri Lanka High Commission in Canberra successfully participated in the ‘’Windows to the World 2025’’ event, organised by the ACT Government, held on Saturday, 18 October 2025. The event provided a unique opportunity for the High Commission to open its doors to the Australian public and showcase the rich cultural heritage, authentic cuisine, and warm hospitality of Sri Lanka.
A large number of Australians, Sri Lankans, and members of the diplomatic community visited the High Commission premises throughout the day. Visitors experienced a vibrant display of Sri Lankan culture through Traditional Dance Performances, Fashion Shows, Batik and Spice stalls, Food stalls and a Food truck presented. An array of Sri Lankan delicacies, including the ever-popular Hoppers, Kottu Roti, and Ceylon Tea were also enjoyed by all. Sri Lankan business persons from Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane participated in the event. Sri Lankan Airlines provided travel information and there was a significant demand for travel information about Sri Lanka.
The High Commission premises were beautifully decorated with Sri Lankan flags, traditional motifs, and photographs highlighting the country’s natural beauty and historical landmarks. Information booths provided insights into Sri Lanka’s tourism, drawing significant interest from attendees.
In her remarks, Her Excellency the High Commissioner, Yasoja Gunasekera expressed appreciation to all stall holders, performers, volunteers, and members of the Sri Lankan community who contributed to making the event a resounding success. She emphasised that the participation of the Sri Lanka High Commission in ‘’Windows to the World 2025’’ reflects the strong and friendly ties between Sri Lanka and Australia, and underscores the importance of cultural diplomacy in strengthening people-to-people connections.
The Windows to the World initiative, coordinated by the ACT Government, enables Embassies and High Commissions in Canberra to open their doors to the public, allowing visitors to experience the diverse cultures represented in the capital.
