Proceeds from Sri Lanka Festival 2017 in Canberra handed over to the “Little Hearts” Project

Proceeds from the Sri Lanka Festival 2017 held in Canberra on 25 November 2017 amounting to A$ 5000.00 (SLRs 611,632.70) was recently handed over to the ‘Little Hearts’ Project of the Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital in Sri Lanka .

The Festival was organised by the High Commission at its premises with the assistance of the Sri Lankan community.

The Little Hearts Project has been set up to expedite the construction of a Cardiac and Critical Care Complex at the Lady Ridgway Hospital which will allow it to provide timely treatment to the children in need.

The cheque was handed over by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on behalf of the High Commission to the Hospital authorities on 23 May 2018 in Colombo.

The High Commission wishes to thank the Canberra public, Australian officials and the Sri Lankan community for their participation at the Sri Lanka Festival 2017 and generous contribution towards this worthy cause.
